Solar Welcome Door Light

The infra sensor doesn't sense and the light is very weak. General construction is clumsy and bulky for what it is.

Bought this to attach to the front of the house for a bit of extra light when trying to open the front door at night and for security. Not only is the light emitted very poor but it soon broke as water had somehow got into it even though I thought it was an outdoor light? only lasted about a month so would not recommend it.

Seemed a fantastic idea, I've a poorly lit front door, I work shifts, I don't want to keep the outside light on for 8 hours a day... Seemed ideal.

The sensor didn't work on the first one I received. No problem, the replacement came in days. That one didn't work at all, even though there was 'Tested' written all over the box. I do want one, and will be hoping for 'Third time lucky'.

Triumph of optimism over experience? Watch this space

I am pleased with it. It is a quite well made unit, although the information that comes with it suggests it is rain resistant and not rainproof. This seems a little odd for a unit that is for exterior use. I'll write another review if mine starts to absorb water!

Note there is no online information given on the size of the unit or response distance, so here it is: it stands out some 15 cm from the wall and is ~15 cm high, and ~11 cm wide. Walking at mine straight on (situated 2.5 m high on wall), it detects me at ~3m.

I bought one of these lights over a year ago and fitted it over my kitchen door where it performs well ,just bright enough to illuminate a 6 foot square area.
However I also use it in other places i.e. in the shed where it comes on when you open the door ,on the landing where it is bright enough for my daughter to see by but not too bright to wake everyone .
We recently had a power cut and this light was perfect to use in the house or walking round with.
