Nice but heavy
2008-10-01Nice looking kettle with a good lid. It does take a while to switch off when boiling so don't position it under a unit as the steam will cause damage. I find it heavy when it's filled to MAX. but I'm only 5'1".

Great Kettle
2008-09-30Usually buying a Kettle is a mine field, but having read the reviews on Amazon I decided to go with the flow, and I have to say I am impressed !
It looks great, its solid, the switch isnt thin & nasty plastic. It boils very quickly and the tea tastes good. and above all it has an easy fill spout and a good water gauge. No need to look at anything else. Well done Philips.

Sad buy
2008-09-28I bought the kettle last week and, in all honesty, it boiled water very well for nearly seven days.
I am sad to say it has now packed up, given up the ghost or is a late kettle (put it which way you want)
I blame my wife - she didn't like my 15 year old, slightly leaky, old kettle - hence the new state of the art purchace.
What really annoys is that the binmen took 'old reliable' away yesterday.
Nevermind, we live and learn.
Beware

Ok but not great
2008-09-18For a branded, full-price kettle, this one is far from perfect.
We found the lid stiff, and it didn't fit well. After about a year, the lid hinge broke, though it was still possible to put the lid on. Now, after 17 months, the element has failed and we have a dead kettle. To be fair, there is a 2-year warranty and the retailer has just replaced the kettle without quibble (well done, Euronics!), but I expect better quality and reliability than this from Philips. Next time, it will be a £6 cheapie from Tesco or Sainsburys!
On the plus side, this kettle does boil fast (because it is 3kW rather than the more common 1.5kW or 2kW), but that is about the only good thing to say about it.

Made in China.......no thanks!
2008-09-17Well compared to the other glowing reviews this ain't one! I purchased this kettle because of these recommendations and what do I get? I get the same made in China crap that seems to have plagued my toasters and kettles of recent years. They are great while they last and then if you are very lucky they give out before the guarantee period expires, if not then you have lost out! Fortunately for me I guess this only managed five months and so comes botom of my 'crap goods out of China' table. And here is the biggest joke, they actually give you a 2 year guarentee, wishful thinking or what![[ASIN:B0009OHCSK Philips HD4666/20 Metal Kettle - Brushed Stainless Steel 1.7lt 3000w]
